At least 26 people have been killed in an attack on a passenger bus on Mastung road.
The bus was taking pilgrims from Quetta to Taftan in neighbouring Iran. Eyewitnesses said unknown armed men opened fire on the bus, resulting in death of 26 passengers and injuries to several others. The injured were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The bus, with some 60 passengers on board, was reportedly attacked by four armed men on motorcycles. They stopped the bus before opening fire on it. A report meanwhile said that the armed men forced the passengers to line up outside before shooting them dead.
In another similar attack on pilgrims, a group of gunmen killed at least seven people, including four Shias, at a crowded bus terminal on Saryab Road, Quetta in July.
Banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi had claimed the responsibility for the attack.
